A record certain prize of £1010.40 was on offer for the QBC Draw after a large influx of new entrants during August. Should the blue quartered ball have been drawn first, this would have increased to almost £9000.
However, after ball number 291 was drawn out of the bag by Andrew Howard, co-owner of Club Sponsors Beechdean Dairies, we are pleased to announce that the prize has been won by John Clegg from Whiteleaf nr Princes Risborough. John is pictured above a few years ago with former Wanderers player Curtis Thompson.
John, a Legacy Trust Member and a Chartered Surveyor specialising in woodlands and forestry work, tells us that he has followed WWFC on a regular basis since the non-league days at Adams Park although he did attend a handful of games at Loakes Park. He used to stand with a group of friends close to the touchline prior to the building of the Frank Adams stand. At that time six of them purchased season tickets in the new stand – carefully chosen so they were overlooking the same sightline as when they were standing! Three of them – Chris Harvey, Bob Broad and John – still occupy the same seats and have done throughout the intervening seasons.
When asked for his highlights of supporting WWFC, John said that Covid brought home to him what he missed most about not attending games. “It was the people who sat in our group rather than the actual football. As such, a big thank you to Chris and Bob, previously mentioned, plus Steve Cubbage, Tony Cohen, Mike Christensen, Simon Haddock, Justin Saw and his boys and Brian Mitchell for their friendship and the added enjoyment they bring to a game.”

For John, footballing highlights are many with the FA Trophy finals against Kidderminster and Runcorn in the non-league days right up there along with the play off final against Preston North End. The win against Leicester in the FA Cup was a memorable day as well as the semi final against Liverpool. Player wise Davy Carroll would be in his all time WWFC team. “It’s difficult to believe he never played at a higher level”
