‘Santa’ Les wins biggest QBC Draw Prize so far

The July Quarters Ball Club draw was the biggest so far, paying out £1052 to the owner of ball 1167, which was Les Hubbard – a long time WWFC supporter from High Wycombe.

Les tells us that “in the early1970’s my late great friend Gordon Richards joined the board, together with our mutual friend Ivor Beeks. Gordon then invited me to some matches at Loakes Park. In those days the Chairboys supporters changed ends at half time to be behind their team. Also, as a guest of the directors I got to select the man of the match.

When the club moved to Adams Park a Vice Presidents Club was formed and I became a member.  On match days we met in what I think has become Monty’s bar Some wives joined us and Barbara and I have been season ticket holders ever since.”

Now being more of a senior age, they normally only attend home games, often accompanied by their eldest daughter and husband, who are also season ticket holders travelling up from Ilford, Essex. A season ticket has also been purchased for a 9 yo grandson, so the family tradition will continue.

Some will know Les as ‘the real Father Christmas’ – shhhhh don’t tell the kids – and he hopes to be at Adams Park with his sleigh for the Bolton game on December 20th.

Les says he was “very surprised and delighted to win the recent draw but is not quite sure yet on how the money will be spent”

With more new players joining in, the August ‘guaranteed prize’ might well be even bigger and there is still the possibility of someone receiving over £12000 if the blue quarters ball can be drawn out first. We will let you know when the draw will be made but if you don’t already subscribe, you can do so here
